Biography:

David Varner, FAIA, is the Office Director for SmithGroup's Washington, DC office. in addition to leading his team in DC, he is actively focused on public, private-sector, and developer-driven solutions for base building construction, build-to-suits, interior architecture, large or small scale planning,and mixed-use projects. As a designer/leader for the construction of over 4,000,000 sf of LEED workplace projects, sustainable, healthy design has always been a key driver for his clients and the built portfolio. To ensure development of complete, holistic design solutions, he works closely with his engineering colleagues at SmithGroup to explore the interrelationships of location, economics, technology, and innovation potential through an iterative process of strategy, design, and performance modeling.
