James Wilson

Biography: Jim Wilson is a Managing Director of JMP Asset Management and portfolio manager of JMP Realty Partners I, II, III and HIC/JMP. Prior to joining JMP Asset Management, Jim served as head of residential real estate investment banking at JMP Securities from 2012 through 2015. He spent the previous 11 years as JMP Securities’ director of research and as an equity research analyst covering real estate and housing stocks. Before joining JMP Securities, Jim was a managing director and senior research analyst for four years at Jefferies & Company, where he covered REITs, homebuilders, manufactured housing and resort, vacation ownership and property-related service companies. From 1989 through 1996, he served as a senior research analyst in the real estate and building group at Montgomery Securities, now Banc of America Securities. In 2011, Jim ranked second among all stock pickers in the real estate category in the annual “Best on the Street” analyst survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal; in 2003 through 2006, he ranked each year as a top-five stock picker in the home construction category. In 2011, Jim also ranked second for estimate accuracy in the household durables category in the annual FT/StarMine analyst poll. In 2009, he placed second in the construction and building materials category in “The Best Brokerage Analysts” rankings compiled by Forbes. Jim holds a BA in economics from Whitman College and is a chartered financial analyst.
