Biography:
DAVID A. ZAIDAIN _______________________________________________________________________________________________ I am currently working as a Practice Leader in Gensler's Planning and Transportation studio in Washington DC. My focus is urban planning, development and infrastructure. My past experience includes: PROJECT DIRECTOR, WASHINGTON UNION STATION (2013 to 2018) AMTRAK, Washington, DC I directed over $55 million in Amtrak investment in near term improvements and an extensive long term expansion to Washington Union Station. This includes implementing the $85 million Claytor Concourse Modernization, a suite of near tem rail infrastructure improvements, as well as sponsoring the Station Expansion Environmental Impact Statement process. Additional responsibilities include supervising team resources, managing the program’s overall capital budget and pursuing yearly capital requests and external contributions. I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Washington Terminal Company and provide support for Amtrak’s role on the Board of Directors for the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation. SENIOR URBAN PLANNER (2008 – 2013) NATIONAL CAPITAL PLANNING COMMISSION, Washington, DC I assisted in managing the Policy and Research Division and performed as the lead planner for several high profile initiatives including District of Columbia Height of Buildings Study, The first Urban Design Element for the Federal Comprehensive Plan, developing implementation strategies for the Southwest EcoDistrict, and evaluating the federal government’s location policies for federal space in the National Capital Region. LEAD PLANNER (2002 – 2007) NATIONAL CAPITAL PLANNING COMMISSION, Washington, DC I served as the lead planner for several successful planning initiatives including The Freight Railroad Realignment Study and The RFK Stadium Site Redevelopment Study.
