David Zaidain
Biography: David Zaidain was appointed Chief of Transit Oriented Development at MDOT in April 2023 and leads the Office of Real Estate and Economic Development within the MDOT Secretary’s Office. As a trained city planner and real estate professional, David’s 22-year career has focused on transit-oriented development, public-private partnerships, and community development. He spent 12 years with the National Capital Planning Commission in Washington DC, followed by a tenure at Amtrak as a founding member of the Major Stations TOD group and leading the Washington Union Station Expansion project. After Amtrak, David spent five years consulting on TOD and Transit related project around the world while at Gensler before his current Chief appointment at MDOT. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Urban Studies and a Master’s of Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s of Science in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland.
