Report Summary:
The Energy Corridor District (ECD) in Houston, Texas, is reimagining itself as a place for highlighting, promoting, and showcasing the importance of energy in placemaking. Today, the ECD is one of Houston’s premier business districts with 50,000+ jobs. Over the next decade, the area is transforming into a destination with a more balanced mix of jobs, residents, and visitors. This change coincides with the transition occurring within the energy industry, and the District is uniquely positioned at the confluence of both fundamental restructurings – the evolution of business districts into mixed-use places and the energy industry’s mission to be net-zero. The Energy Corridor District asked ULI to provide recommendations of a roadmap identifying how it uses its unique positioning to be a leader in creating a resilient, economically thriving place.
