ULI Greater Bay Area: Shenzhen - The Net Zero Imperative
ULI launched the global Net Zero Imperative (NZI) in July 2021, an initiative to help accelerate the market transformation toward a net-zero built environment. As part of the inaugural cohort, Shenzhen is the technology innovation hub in China, home to established companies like Huawei, BYD, Tencent, and a vibrant tech startup ecosystem. One of Shenzhen's districts is particularly interested in leveraging green technology to help redevelop a large industrial zone.
The TAP panel interviewed various local and international stakeholders, including owners, consultants, policy advisors, and technology investors. This report provides a local context on the Shenzhen policy landscape, presents the business case for real estate, and recommends technology and policy incentive strategies to help set a collaborative path that can be both actionable and achievable.
