Bruce Rasher Redevelopment Manager Revitalizing Auto Communities Environmental Response (RACER) Trust Bruce Rasher serves as the Redevelopment Manager of RACER Trust, an environmental response trust established as a qualified settlement fund, created by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York in 2011 to assume title to, clean up, reposition and sell the properties abandoned by the former General Motors Company in its 2009 bankruptcy. The portfolio consisted of 336 properties with 34 MM SF in 167 buildings on 6,776 acres of land in 83 locations in 14 states. The Trust’s mandate, as stipulated in the 2010 Consent Decree and Settlement Agreement entered into by the U.S., the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe and the 14 States, is to sell these properties to buyers who will invest in new development, restore tax base and create jobs to help the communities hurt by GM’s bankruptcy. Mr. Rasher is responsible for managing the marketing and sale of the Trust’s properties, in consultation with the Administrative Trustee and Federal, state and local officials, as well as governmental affairs and communications. To date, RACER Trust has completed more than 80 sales resulting in pledges of more than $3.8 billion in private investment and 14,887 jobs. Prior to joining RACER Trust, Bruce was a Vice President with CBRE based in Detroit. Prior to joining CBRE, Bruce held a variety of management positions, responsible for: real estate and facilities, environmental remediation, brownfield redevelopment, economic development, and renewable energy, with Consumers Energy, a subsidiary of CMS Energy and one of the nation's largest combination electric and natural gas utilities. He oversaw the construction of CMS Energy's corporate headquarters on a brownfield site, the recipient of a 2003 Phoenix Award. Bruce also served as President of Consumers Renaissance Development Corporation, a non-profit public-private partnership engaged in providing technical assistance and transaction facilitation for brownfield redevelopment projects to businesses and communities. CRDC helped bring to fruition 111 redevelopment projects resulting in $3.5 billion in new, private investment. Bruce served as an elected mayor and on numerous boards and commissions in his community. Bruce also serves on the Board of Directors of Oaklawn Hospital.
