Biography:
Bruce Rasher is the Redevelopment Manager for Revitalizing Auto Communities Environmental Response (RACER) Trust, an environmental response trust established by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York in 2011 to assume title to, clean up, reposition, and sell the properties abandoned by the former General Motors Company in its 2009 bankruptcy. The portfolio consisted of 336 properties with 34 MM SF in 167 buildings on 6,776 acres of land in 83 locations in 14 states. The Trust’s mandate, as stipulated in a 2010 Consent Decree and Settlement Agreement entered into by the U.S., the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, and the 14 States, is to sell these properties to buyers who will invest in new development, restore tax base, and create jobs to help the communities hurt by GM’s bankruptcy. Mr. Rasher is responsible for managing the marketing and sale of the Trust’s properties, in consultation with the Administrative Trustee and Federal, state, and local officials, as well as governmental affairs and communications. To date, RACER Trust has completed more than 90 sales and its buyers' investments have resulted in more than 59,000 jobs, an annual labor income of $5.2 BB, and annual contributions to regional economies of $13.1 BB. Bruce is also a member of the Board of Directions of Oaklawn Hospital, a non-profit community hospital in Michigan. Prior to joining RACER Trust, Bruce was a Vice President with CBRE based in Detroit. Prior to joining CBRE, Bruce held a variety of management positions, responsible for: real estate and facilities, environmental remediation, brownfield redevelopment, economic development, and renewable energy, with Consumers Energy, a subsidiary of CMS Energy and one of the nation's largest combination electric and natural gas utilities. He oversaw the construction of CMS Energy's corporate headquarters on a brownfield site, the recipient of a 2003 Phoenix Award.
