Bryce Turner Chairman DDG BCT Architects Baltimore MD Bryce Turner is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the Chairman of DDG BCT. He is recognized as the energetic force behind the firm's emergence from a small design consulting firm to a nationally recognized architecture and planning firm. Turner and the firm are currently exploring and designing multi-generational communities that integrate food, health & wellness, retail, workplace and housing in communities around the world. Mr. Turner was appointed by Governor Martin O'Malley in 2011, to sit on the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission. He is the former Chair of ULI Baltimore District Council and credited with completing the successful Reality Check Plus visioning initiative across the State of Maryland in 2004. Turner has been recognized by Maryland for his work with ULI as being instrumental in increasing the awareness of "Quality Growth Principles" and the need for greater density in urban areas and inner suburbs. After serving as a VP at DDG, Turner joined BCT in 1994, and became President and CEO in 2002. In 2016, Turner and his Partners merged DDG and BCT. He is a registered architect in more than twenty U.S. states, has directed the design of projects in five countries within Europe, North America, and Asia, and is a major force in obtaining entitlements and approvals for the firm's complex retail, commercial, housing and mixed-use projects. Turner frequently testifies before public commissions and agencies regarding the merits of the firm's mixed - use projects, and is an asset to a development team. His achievements include National Harbor, (MD), Lockwood Place Retail, Baltimore (MD) , Eastgate Complex (Harare, Zimbabwe), Downtown Silver Spring, (MD), Power Plant Live!, Baltimore (MD), and Belvedere Square, Baltimore (MD). Turner's university thesis in the early 80's at Virginia Tech was entitled "Urban Infill in Main Street Communities" and involved the development of design to complement existing pedestrian scale buildings of three and four stories. Much of Brown Craig Turner's work today involves urban design and mixed-use developments that have evolved from that original thesis. Bryce Turner is a full member of the Urban Land Institute and serves on the Redevelopmnet and Reuse Council, and sits on the Advisory Boards of both the Washington, DC and Baltimore District Councils.
