MANAGING PRINCIPAL, CEO | LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT Larry serves as Managing Principal at JDavis, with 36 years of planning and design experience and leadership. He has provided design leadership for numerous projects involving community planning, urban design, and environmental design for corporate, institutional and private clients. Larry has been active in many professional and civic organzations, including currently serving on the RDU Airport Authority Board and the Advisory Board for the Dorothea Dix Park Master Plan. SELECT PROJECT EXPERIENCE SOUTHERN GATEWAY CORRIDOR STUDY | Raleigh, NC Principal-iN-Charge for this seven-mile corridor study commissioned by the City of Raleigh and Raleigh Urban Design Center to analyze and make recommendations related to transportation, streetscape, urban character and land use outcomes for this gateway into downtown Raleigh. The project included public participation and community outreach activities. WASHINGTON TERRACE MASTER PLAN | Raleigh, NC Principal-in-Charge a master plan for the redevelopment of the Washington Terrace neighborhood east of downtown Raleigh. The mission of the master plan is to transform the community into an attractive, mixed-income neighborhood including 300-400 housing units, natural space and supporting commercial mixed-use. The project included extensive public participation meetings and community outreach activities. CAPITOL PARK HOPE VI REDEVELOPMENT | Raleigh, NC Principal-in-Charge of Landscape Architecture for this Master Planned TND mixeduse neighborhood development. Includes the demolition of 382 units of Halifax Court Public Housing and the new construction of Office, Housing and Community Facilities. Hope VI Grant, $36 Million, Completion 2004. JDavis Architects provided all architecture, landscape architecture and planning for the entire Capitol Park Redevelopment. CHAVIS HEIGHTS HOPE VI REDEVLOPMENT | Raleigh, NC Chavis Heights is a residential neighborhood of multiple housing types. The project was funded as part of a HOPE VI Grant from The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The project included the demolition of a public housing project built in 1947. JDavis Architects provided all architecture, landscape architecture and planning for the entire Chavis Heights Redevelopment. STATE GOVERNMENT CENTER MASTER PLAN | Raleigh, NC Comprehensive master plan, facilities plan and urban design guidelines for the twentyfour block state capital complex. The plan has guided facility improvements since 1986 for the Capital Planning Commission. MOORE SQUARE SOUTH REDEVELOPMENT STUDY | Raleigh, NC Principal-in-Charge for preparing a redevelopment vision for the five major blocks east of the new headquarters for Progress Energy. From the planning process, led by JDavis, development strategies were recommended for underutilized public and private properties within the five block area. DOWNTOWN WEST AREA PLAN | Raleigh, NC Principal-in-Charge for leading a comprehensive plan for the redevelopment of west downtown Raleigh. The Downtown West Area Plan dictates design guidelines for Raleigh’s historic Warehouse District and the Downtown Transit Station Area. Programming included: land use, design standards, pedestrian systems, traffic patterns and transit. BLUE RIDGE ROAD DISTRICT STUDY | Raleigh, NC This study provided a coordinated blueprint and vision to guide future development within this district to spur economic development and establish a true sense of place. Design guidelines for mixed use, urban form and streetscape were developed through a yearlong public involvement process.
