Derek C. Abbott Vice President – Community Development & Resource Planning Tejon Ranch Company Derek C. Abbott is Vice President of Community Development & Resource Planning for Tejon Ranch Company of Lebec, CA and is responsible for development planning and entitlement of some of the nation's most significant master-planned communities as well as implementation of conservation programs on the 270,00 acre Tejon Ranch located just north of Los Angeles and south Bakersfield. Recently, Abbott led entitlement of Grapevine, an 8,010 acre master-planned community of 12,000 homes and 5.1m sf of commercial and industrial uses, and is currently focused on development business planning for Tejon Mountain Village, a 3,450 home resort-residential community. Abbott has represented the Company's interests in a number of development and conservation initiatives including the Tejon Ranch Commerce Center, a 1,450 acre commercial and industrial park along interstate 5 and Hwy 99; Centennial, a 23,000 home community on 11,500 acres; and the Tejon Ranch Conservation and Land Use Agreement, which preserves over 240,000 acres and included the sale of conservation easements over 62,000 acres of Ranch lands. Abbott earned a BS in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and completed a MBA at California State University, Bakersfield in 2010. He is a full member of the Urban Land Institute, has completed its Real Estate School and Leadership for Planned Communities professional development series, and now serves on the Community Development Council - Black Flight. Derek also serves on the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and chairs the California State University, Bakersfield Business School Dean's Executive Advisory Committee.
