Tama Duffy Day

Biographie :
Tama Duffy Day, FACHE, FIIDA, FASID, LEED AP, Fitwel, is passionate about impacting lives of all ages through innovative and purposeful design. A celebrated designer, speaker, author, educator, mentor, podcast host, and longevity advocate, she has been a leader at global design firms (Ellerbe, Perkins+Will and Gensler) throughout her successful career. A pioneer in the health industry for decades, she challenges conventional design and develops solutions that reimagine and support longevity in an age-inclusive world. Having actively led projects across the globe, Tama’s thought leadership and work has been published in Forbes, The New York Times, Interior Design magazine, Fast Company, Dwell, Metropolis, the Washington Business Journal, South Florida Business Journal, and Healthcare Design. Her project work has won over 100 global, national, and regional awards including the Generative Space Award, AIA Virginia Interiors, AIA Washington DC Chapter, IIDA National, IIDA Mid-Atlantic, ASID National, ASID Washington Metro Chapter, and US Green Building Council Awards. An acknowledged leader in the wellness community, Tama is a member of Women in Healthcare and serves on the Washington DC Mayor’s Age-Friendly Task Force. Tama also serves on the boards of the Capitol Hill Village and The CARITAS Project, and on Advisory Boards for the Healthcare Facilities Symposium, Marymount University, and Medical Construction & Design magazine. Tama serves as Vice Chair for Diversity Equity and Inclusion on Urban Land Institute’s national Lifestyle Residential Development Council. She is one of the few design professionals inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Healthcare Executives. For three consecutive years Tama was elected as one of the “25 Most Influential People in Healthcare Design” by Healthcare Design magazine, she was a USA Delegate in the People-to-People Ambassador Program to China, a USA delegate to Health Facilities Scotland, and a USA delegate to the International Federation of Interior Architects and Designers to Taiwan. Tama received the Alumni Master Award from North Dakota State University, the North Dakota State University Alumni Achievement Award, the ASID national Designer of Distinction, the Interior Design’s HIP Award in Health & Wellness, and the 2012 Founder’s Individual Award from Healthcare Facilities Symposium. Fueled by curiosity and learning, Tama constantly nudges those around her to imagine the creative, connected, and vibrant ways they can live (and design for) their 100-year lives.
