James Gray
Biographie : James D. Gray President Cypress Senior Living An awarded scholar and successful businessman, James D. Gray has accomplished many achievements throughout his career. He began as a student at Washington and Lee University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in 1979. He belonged to a variety of organizations including Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma and earned the Virginia Society of CPA's Award of Achievement. Continuing his studies, he graduated with an M.B.A. from the University of Texas and was given the Deans Award, Sord Scholar and belonged to Phi Kappa Phi. As a professional, he started at the Republic National Bank as a Banking Officer where he was responsible for the loan and deposit portfolio of 25 clients, representing $75,000,000 in asset value. He later moved on to work for the Trammell Crow Company, first as a project manager for the Houston Division and then as a Managing Director and Divisional Partner for the Houston Industrial Division. As a Principal for Cypress Realty, Inc., Mr. Gray was in charge of investigating and managing developmental investment opportunities, including multi-family, retail and industrial properties. And most recently, James Gray is now President of Cypress Senior Living; a private real estate investment trust focused on the development of retirement communities for active independent seniors. Current development includes 2500 units in fifteen markets, representing an asset base in excess of $400,000,000. Affiliations have included sitting as Director to the Cypress Senior Living Partner, Inc. and as Director of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (Houston Chapter). He has also been a member of the Alumni Association at Washington & Lee University, the First Presbyterian Church, the Urban Land Institute and the National Investment Center.
