Biographie :
Jenni Morejon was appointed as the President & CEO of the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority in 2017. The DDA is an independent taxing authority established by the Florida State Legislature in 1965 to facilitate public and private investment in the urban core of Fort Lauderdale (pop. 190,000 in a SE Florida region of six million). Major projects of the DDA include the development of a new Federal Courthouse in coordination with the GSA, development of a new joint City/County governmental center, improved mobility and capital streetscape projects, and advocating for continued growth and prosperity of Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Prior to the DDA, Jenni served as director for the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Department of Sustainable Development during her 16-year tenure with the City. As director, she led a team responsible for urban planning, economic development, housing programs, code compliance and building permits during the post-recession development boom. More than $3 billion of development was under construction, approved or in the planning stages while she led a team of 185 staff in five operating divisions with a total budget of $35 Million. Jenni sits on the Management Committee for the ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean District Council, serves as Chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative Committee, and is a member of the Public Private Partnership Council-Gold Product Council. She is on the Board of Directors for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, is Vice-Chair of the Chamber's Downtown Council, and a graduate of Leadership Fort Lauderdale and Leadership Broward’s Women Leading Broward program.
