Stephen Friedman

Biography:
Stephen Friedman , FAICP, CRE is the founder of SB Friedman Development Advisors, a 32-year-old, 30 - person development advisory firm focusing on innovative public private partnerships and development strategies. The work covers the broad spectrum of market and financial feasibility, development strategies, creating public-private partnerships, and structuring financing programs. Mr. Friedman and the firm are deeply engaged in the use of TIF and New Markets Tax Credits for a wide range of projects resulting in $4.5 billion of public funding in $15 billion of public-private development projects. The firm has done substantial work on value capture for transportation infrastructure and was lead consultant to create a special Transit TIF for the Red & Purple Line Modernization program in Chicago generating over $600 to help match a Core Capacity Grant. He is a Series-50- qualified Municipal Advisor Representative. He was CoChair of the Urban Land Institute Chicago District Council Infrastructure Initiative that resulted in the “Gamechangers Model.” He served as series chair of “An Agenda for Growth of the Chicago Region,” chair of the Chicago District Council, and chair of Urban Development Mixed Use Council – Purple, and was a member of the Public Private Partnership Council Gold Flight leadership team. He chaired the committee that prepared the ULI publication "Successful Public-Private Partnerships: From Principles to Practices." He also serves as a member of the Executive Committee of The Civic Federation and on the boards of other civic, professional, social service, and educational institutions. He holds the designation of Counselor of Real Estate (CRE) and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners (FAICP).
