(NBA), a professional design firm providing architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and urban planning services. A licensed architect in 20 states, Ray has been active in all facets of the firm’s architectural practice. With offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Alexandria, Virginia, NBA has designed projects in 47 states and 16 countries including over 50 projects in China. Under Ray’s leadership, the firm has developed a national reputation for work in mixed-use developments, multi-family housing, student housing, transportation architecture, department stores, universities, clubhouses, hotels, and resorts. NBA has designed over 750,000 multi-family residences, over 30,000 beds of off-campus housing and over 60,000 beds of student housing on-campus. The Tennessee native received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture degrees from Yale University and joined NBA in 1981. Ray currently serves on the Federal Architecture Task Group for the American Institute of Architects. He has represented the National Apartment Association and the National Multi-Housing Council on the ANSI A-117 Accessibility Task Force. He has been active in the Urban Land Institute and the American Institute of Architects and served on ULI advisory panels for the California State Capitol, the Port of Los Angeles and Patterson, New Jersey. He recently stepped down as chair of Leadership Buckhead and the Board of Governors of the Association of Yale Alumni, having served on the Alumni Exchange Task Forces that visited Australia, Japan, Turkey and China. As former president of the Buckhead Business Association, he was the lead facilitator in a planning and design charrette for Atlanta’s premier business and retail neighborhood.
