Clarence Lacy
Biography: Clarence Lacy is a Senior Project Director at RIOS, a multi-disciplinary design firm based in Los Angeles. His experience working in Toronto, San Francisco Bay area, and Los Angeles works to transform the way we think about cities - using landscape architecture to express inclusively the individuals’ voices to unify, inspire, and enlighten communities. Throughout his career, Clarence has been dedicated to increasing pathways into the profession for BIPOC students, creating equitable access to public space and examining scaled impacts of environmental justice. At RIOS, Clarence co-led the establishment of the Social Impact Initiative – a combination of policy and programming to develop a more inclusive and diverse office culture at RIOS, while emphasizing a more just approach to project work and the firm’s role in the LA community. As a Landscape Architecture Foundation board member, Clarence continues work to create pathways to diversify the profession. Clarence holds a Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from University of Toronto, where he has recently been a part of the Landscape Architecture Faculty’s committee to develop tools for an Anti-racist curriculum.
