Andrew Manshel

Biography:
December 2005 Andy Manshel joined Greater Jamaica Development Corporation in April 2005 as Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development. In that position he is responsible for the progress of four development projects centered around the unique transit hub in Jamaica, Queens that includes the main station of the Long Island Railroad and the new Airtrain to JFK International Airport. The projects include a 1 million square foot mixed-use wholesale showroom and retail complex; a 250 room hotel, a 500,000 square foot office building, and a mixed-use 500,000 square foot retail/residential development. In addition, Andy is assisting with GJDC's quality-of-life initiatives. For 10 years, Andy was Associate Director and Counsel at the Bryant Park Restoration Corporation and General Counsel and Director of Public Amenities to the Grand Central and 34th Street Partnerships. In that position he was the chief legal and administrative officer of the nation's largest complex of business improvement districts. He played a leading role in the restoration of Bryant Park, as well as structuring the first municipal bond financings by a BID. At the BIDs, Andy's projects included the Bryant Park Grill and Café, the Pershing Square Café, the privatization of Herald and Greeley Squares, including the installation of New York's first automatic public toilets, and the nation's most extensive and successful news rack program. He also was responsible for the creation of Bryant Park's acclaimed performing arts and events series.
