Julia Monk

Biography: Julia Monk, FAIA, FIIDA, LEED AP is a senior vice president and director of hospitality based in HOK’s Hong Kong office. Prior to joining HOK in 2013, Julia was a managing partner of New York based BBG-BBGM, an architectural and interior design practice she helped found in 1984. She has been a hospitality design industry leader since 1978 and recipient of the industry’s highest honors, including the prestigious Platinum Circle Award. Her projects and ideas are often published in leading design and hospitality journals and books. A licensed architect and interior designer, Julia is a member of the AIA, IIDA, ULI, NEWH. She co-founded the New York chapter of the AIA Architecture of Hospitality Committee and is a member of the ULI Asia Pacific Hospitality Committee and ULI WLI. She serves on the advisory boards of HD Magazine and Radical Innovation Award; teaches an annual course at Harvard Graduate School of Design; and, speaks as an industry panelist and keynote speaker.
