Andrew Schaffler

Biography:
Andrew Schaffler is Chief Investment Officer of Roofstock, where he oversees and executes investments in single-family rental and build-for-rent. He has significant experience in the structuring and acquisition of private and public investments of all property types, and operating partnerships. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Schaffler was a Managing Director in the real estate group at Angelo Gordon responsible for nationwide coverage of the single-family for rent sector and the firm’s activities in real estate special situations as well as identifying inefficiencies and providing capital market solutions in listed property markets. Previously, Andrew served as the Director of Listed Real Estate Securities for Madison International Realty, where he was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s public markets investing activities. He was the portfolio manager for a Listed Property separate account and commingled fund and a member of the investment committee for the firm’s private equity real estate funds. Prior to joining Madison in 2015, Andrew spent nine years at Cohen & Steers Capital Management on the real estate securities portfolio management team, including 5 years on a long/short real estate hedge fund. Andrew covered a variety of property sectors and subsectors over the years including residential REITs, manufactured housing, student housing, homebuilders, land developers, mortgage REITs, ski resorts, regional and community banks, and other esoteric real estate investments throughout the capital structure. Previously, he served as an analyst at Neuberger Berman, LLC. Andrew earned a B.S. degree in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University and is a CFA charterholder. Andrew is an inaugural member of the ULI Single-Family Rental Council and has been a member of various industry organizations including ICSC, NAREIT, CFAI, and NYSSA and is a past Committee Chairperson for the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network and sponsor of Cornell Career Service's externship programs.
