Biography: I am a partner in DLA Piper’s Real Estate Development, Land Use and Government Affairs practice group. I concentrate my practice in the areas of general real estate development, corporate real estate services, land use and zoning, housing, public-private finance, incentives for development and facilities location, and government affairs. I represent owners, developers, investors, lenders, retailers, and a variety of institutional and entrepreneurial clients in complex real estate, private and public financing, annexation, zoning and government-related matters for corporate, office, industrial, retail, residential and mixed-use development projects. I am the Past Chair of the Urban Land Institute, Chicago District Council (and current member of its Management Committee), and am a member of the Illinois Housing Council, Metropolitan Planning Council, Lambda Alpha, and Illinois Tax Increment Association. In 2019-2020, I served as an appointed member of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot's Inclusionary Housing Task Force. I also taught a class for a number of years on the law and practice of land use, zoning and eminent domain as a Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to practicing law, I was a land planning and transportation analyst for the US Department of Transportation. I also served as a staff member for US Senator Paul Simon (IL).
