Mark Wilbert
Biography: Mark Wilbert is the Chief Resilience Officer and Director of Emergency Management for the City of Charleston, SC. As Chief Resilience Officer, his efforts have focused on leading city staff members in developing an implementation plan for addressing the consequences of sea level rise and the various types of associated flooding. As the Director of Emergency Management, he is responsible for building and maintaining a comprehensive Emergency Management Program in a thriving city of approximately one hundred and fifty thousand residents and almost six million visitors annually. Prior to assuming his current role in 2013, Mark served on active duty in the United States Coast Guard for 35 years. During his career he was involved in planning, responding to, and managing numerous weather related disasters, 9-11 related events, and several large-scale incidents and events, including the G-8 Summit in 2004, Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010, and the annual Cooper River Bridge Run; 5th largest Road Race in the United States.
