Stephen Wooldridge
Biography: Steve Wooldridge, PhD, PE, FACHE :: Chief Facilities Operations & Planning Officer, U. of Miami Health System / Miller School of Medicine :: Steve leads strategic and operational facility support services, design and construction, real estate, public safety, and compliance for South Florida’s only academic-based health system serving Miami area communities and leading the next generation of health care. He collaborates with enterprise-wide stakeholders and board members in serving this robust healthcare system. Steve joined UHealth / MSOM after 8.5 years at MedStar Health in Columbia, MD. There he built centralized core capabilities in real estate and facilities and delivered a new flagship hospital in Georgetown serving the District of Columbia and surrounding region with a state-of-the-art environment of acute care. Prior to joining MedStar Health, Steve served over 23 years of military service in progressive leadership roles in healthcare administration and health facility planning. His key contributions include leading the establishment of a facility “shared service” division supporting military medicine, leading the planning and execution of a $9B capital program for the Army Surgeon General, and leading the operations and administration of a combat support hospital in Iraq. Steve is a registered Professional Engineer in 5 states, a Fellow in the Health Facilities Institute, a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He earned a PhD in Civil Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Masters in Engineering and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. His doctoral dissertation focused on “Balancing Capital and Condition: An Emerging Approach to Facility Investment Strategy.”
