ULI Toronto: Collaborative Contracting and Infrastructure
Collaborative Contracting as an alternative for the delivery of public infrastructure is gaining significant interest in Canada as a means to drive efficiency, market response, and performance. Collaborative contracting models, like Alliance and Integrated Project Delivery, have shown success in delivering complex infrastructure projects in the UK, Australia and USA. Alliancing is a method of procuring and managing major capital assets whereby a promoter (public or private entity or entities) contractually works collaboratively with private service providers (designers, contractors and suppliers) to deliver the project. This model is designed to increase collaboration and accountability, as both entities share the benefits and challenges.
ULI Toronto’s expert panel provides a high-level overview of the key fundamentals of collaborative contracting, its evolution, success criteria and challenges, including lessons learned in the procurement, governance, and delivery of collaborative models.
