Scott Malkin
Biographie : Scott Malkin is founder and Chairman of S D Malkin Properties, a specialist property investment and development company concentrating on innovative mixed-use projects. Among its developments, it was a Partner in and the Development Manager for Two Rodeo Drive, an award winning 135,000 square foot multi-level luxury retail scheme anchored by such brands as Tiffany & Co., Versace and Christian Dior located in Beverly Hills, California. S D Malkin Properties has several new projects currently underway in the US and, through an affiliate, is the controlling shareholder in Value Retail PLC. Scott Malkin is the founder and Chairman of Value Retail, as well as co-founder and Co-Chairman of Value Retail China. Value Retail has introduced and is exclusively committed to developing and operating upmarket outlet shopping villages serving the capital cities of Western Europe and the tier one cities in China. These villages sell surplus stock from luxury and fashion brands at reduced prices and in individual shop units, incorporated into award winning, architecturally distinctive open air environments. Value Retail’s longest established project, Bicester Village outside London, is the most successful shopping centre in the world measured by sales per square foot. Visit Britain has recently named Bicester Village as the UK’s most popular tourist destination after London. The portfolio of outlet villages operated by Value Retail generates the highest sales per square foot of any group of shopping centres in the world. A graduate of Harvard College, Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, Scott serves on various committees at Harvard University, including those that support Harvard Magazine, the Harvard Business School and the University's fundraising efforts, and he sits on Harvard’s Global Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Advisory Boards for the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, the Harvard Medical School Advisory Council on Global Health, the Tobin Project, Conservacion Patagonica and the Columbia University Global Centres/Europe and is Chair of the Advisory Board of the Urban Land Institute. In addition, he is a Trustee of the New York Public Library, a Trustee of Partners In Health and a Trustee of the US Olympic Committee Foundation. Scott is also an honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He previously served as a Trustee of Community Service Volunteers, also in London. Scott and his family have lived in London since 1991.
