Lynx Silver Line
Recommendations for the City of Charlotte, North Carolina on the economic development potential, mobility, and equity opportunities for the Lynx Silver Line's 11th Street Alignment. The panel examines the regional impacts of the Silver Line, transit-oriented investment opportunities, station design, optimizing project financing, as well as engaging key partners.
Sponsored by the City of Charlotte, North Carolina and the Charlotte Area Transit System, the panel provides recommendations on the following: maximizing regional equity and mobility potential along the Silver Line, catalyzing investment in sites in the Center City to optimize densities for highest and best use, planning and design for the 11th Street Station, improving ridership and reducing costs on the Silver Line, testing an alignment that would interline the Blue Line and Silver Line, improving prospects for competitive funding via the Federal Transit Administration, and positioning Charlotte for a successful referendum to support transit investments.
The panel also urged the sponsor to consider planning for a multimodal hub that would enhance trails, bicycle and pedestrian facilities in coordination with transit improvements, and to commit to anti-displacement with a dedication of a portion of referendum funds, and implement a robust engagement program with business, civic and community leaders.
