Gordon Hatton is Head of Development in Japan for Colt DCS, focussed on hyper-scale data centre projects. Prior to transfering to Colt in 2022, Gordon was Asia-Pacific Development for Pembroke Real Estate where he lead the development of multiple commercial and residential projects in Japan over a period of 12-years. Qualified as a 1st Class Licenced Architect in both Japan and Canada, Gordon has over 39 years of property industry experience bridging multiple disciplines from strategic planning, deal analysis, design, and entitlements, to procurement, construction, operational organisation and asset management on projects in Japan, Canada, and Australia. Prior to joining Pembroke, he spent 10 years as an Executive Officer with Bovis Lend Lease Japan, where he was responsible for the architectural project management team, and environmental sustainability group. Educated in Canada and the United States, Hatton practiced architecture in Toronto in the 1980's prior to relocating to Tokyo. His extensive experience in Japan, including 10 years in design and project development with two major Japanese design-build contractors, Shimizu Corporation and Takenaka Corporation, makes him one of a very small group of foreigners who has had the opportunity to experience the Japanese construction industry from the inside. Major works include regional headquarter offices for multinational and Japanese corporations in finance, insurance, pharmaceutical & technology sectors, flagship retail for fashion brands, luxury residential, hotel, university campus planning & urban design projects. Gordon is a ULI Global Trustee (APAC), a member of the Urban Land Institute Japan Council and Executive Committee, a Governor of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan, former Co-chair for the Real Estate Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, and active in various other organizations in the property, design and construction field.
