Jan Freitag

Biography: Mr. Jan D. Freitag is the National Director, Hospitality Analytics, for the CoStar Group . He moved there from STR which was acquired in October 2019 by CoStar Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSGP), the leading provider of commercial real estate information, analytics and online marketplaces. In his role, Mr. Freitag oversees a variety of projects, all charged with the accumulation and interpretation of U.S. lodging data. Starting in 2020 he oversaw the lodging content creation for the CoStar platform. He is a sought-after public speaker and is frequently quoted in trade publications and the general news media such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Associated Press, Bloomberg, Forbes, etc. Prior to moving over to CoStar he was with STR for almost 20 years, most recently as the Senior Vice President, Lodging Insights. In the 1990s Mr. Freitag was the Director of Content Integrity at hotelreports.com in upstate New York and a hospitality consultant with EY in Phoenix. He holds a bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from the School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University, and received his Executive MBA, with honors, from Vanderbilt University. Mr. Freitag resides in Nashville, TN.
