Biography:
WILLIAM G. SHOWN Bill Shown is the Managing Director---Real Estate for Silver Ventures, Inc., a San Antonio-based investment firm. In that position he oversees the team that is responsible for the redevelopment of the historic Pearl Brewery, a culinary and cultural destination on the banks of the San Antonio River. Pearl, with over one million square feet of space currently open or under construction, is home to the third campus of the Culinary Institute of America and contains eighteen highly regarded restaurants, bars and other F&B outlets. The most recent opening at Pearl is the Hotel Emma, a 146 key boutique hotel built in the heart of the 1890’s vintage brewery. Bill is a strong advocate for central city development and toward that end also serves as Chairman of the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation, a local government corporation created by the City of San Antonio to master plan and redevelop 70 acres in the heart of the city that originally housed the HemisFair world fair in 1968. Before coming to Silver Bill served for twelve years as Vice President of Acquisitions & Development with Hixon Properties Incorporated, a San Antonio-based real estate development company. At Hixon he was involved in several major downtown San Antonio developments including the Westin Riverwalk Hotel, the Hotel Contessa and the South Bank. He also led the initial development of an award-winning self-storage brand, Stor Self Storage. Prior to this Bill practiced law for nine years at the firm of Foster Lewis Langley Gardner & Banack, representing real estate investors and developers, Bill is a summa cum laude graduate of Texas A&M University and has a law degree (with honors) from St. Mary’s University.
