Liam Thornton

Biography:
Liam Thornton is the Executive Vice-President of Strategy and Development for ASM Global overseeing their investment, development, joint ventures and advisory work for new sports and entertainment venues and affiliated mixed-use districts. Over a 30+ year career, in addition to financing, acquiring, and developing real estate in the traditional asset classes, Liam has developed highly-branded and experiential projects in the sports and recreation, entertainment, and hospitality space across much of the US and has also managed similar international real estate transactions and development projects in South East Asia (Singapore) and Southern Europe (Barcelona, Spain). His portfolio of projects includes signature designs from Cesar Pelli and Associates, Frank Gehry, Venturi-Scott Brown, Populous and others. Mr. Thornton holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Santa Clara University’s School of Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Architecture and Planning (Center for Real Estate). Professional memberships and affiliations include the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Design Management Institute (DMI), MIT Center for Real Estate, MIT Media Lab, and MIT's DesignX business incubator initiative.
