Amritpal Virdee

Biography:
Amritpal is a lifelong learner who has worked in both the UK and the US as an economist, focused on translating global events into actionable insights. In the UK, Amritpal was an Economist at IHS Markit producing timely analyses of macroeconomic events for Canada, Italy, Ireland, and Saudi Arabia. In the US, he has interned at the United Nations Headquarters twice: His first UN internship was with the Regional Commissions New York Office, where he attended UN inter-agency meetings, contributed to official documents, and produced reports covering regional dimensions of sustainable development. At his second, Amritpal interned in the Office of the UN Chief Economist, where he was personally mentored by UN Assistant Secretary-General and Chief Economist Elliott Harris, played a lead role in the UN Economist Network, and co-authored a report connecting sustainable development concepts with mainstream economic theory. Putting his sustainable knowledge into practice, Amritpal currently works as a Senior ESG Consultant at the Sustainable Investment Group (SIG), focused on helping commercial real estate companies take practical steps to measure, manage, and mitigate their environmental impact. He holds a Bachelors and Masters in Economics and is currently working towards a PhD in Finance, with an emphasis on sustainable finance. Amritpal is also an amateur sailor and on sunny days can be spotted in a Keelboat cruising the Hudson River.
